Hair Cuttery, the largest family-owned and operated chain of hair salons in the country, continues to “share” haircuts with those in need through its annual Share-a-Haircut campaign. Now in its 15th year, the program was created as a back-to-school initiative to give our younger Hair Cuttery clients* an opportunity to help children in need by providing them with a free haircut certificate for the back-to-school season. Since its launch in 1999, Hair Cuttery has donated more than 900,000 back-to-school haircut certificates!
A free haircut can go a long way for any family, especially those in need. According to the National Retail Federation, the average cost of back-to-school spending for kindergarten through 12th grade was $669 per household in 2014.
During the month of August, Hair Cuttery donates one free haircut certificate to a child in need for every child’s haircut* purchased at a Hair Cuttery salon during the month of August. All of our salons nationwide participate in this annual event, so check out our Salon Locator to find a location near you.
The Share a Haircut program is very important to us as a company. Our Founder and CEO Dennis Ratner explains it best: “Share-a-Haircut is about the ritual of preparing for a new school year. A new haircut symbolizes a new start and new possibilities. We want kids to associate feeling good about themselves with getting ready for back to school. Hair Cuttery is extremely proud to offer the Share-a-Haircut program to children who need it in our local Hair Cuttery communities. We want children not only to learn the power of giving but also to go back to school with confidence. Something as simple as a new haircut can help inspire both.”
In honor of our 40th Anniversary this year, Hair Cuttery expanded Share-a-Haircut beyond the original back-to-school program to benefit more than 100,000 homeless and victims of domestic abuse through haircut certificate donations. We are very excited to announce that we have extended Share-a-Haircut to veterans too! This Veterans Day, Hair Cuttery is giving back to our brave service men and women.
For every adult haircut that is purchased on Tuesday, Nov. 11, a free haircut certificate will be donated back to a veteran in our local communities. In each market, Hair Cuttery will partner with local veterans’ organizations to reach those in need. We hope in some small way we are able to help those who have sacrificed so much for our country.
Hair Cuttery has an established history of charitable giving, supporting a range of local and national causes, including St. Baldrick’s Foundation, American Red Cross, The National Network to End Domestic Violence, American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and Girls on the Run.
